Raf Simons SS2006 ‘Icarus Surgit’ Sliced Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt from Raf Simons’ Spring/Summer 2006 Collection titled ‘Icarus Surgit’ features open sections at the seams of the garment on the front and back of the chest, and the sides of the torso, giving the appearance of slices. Other pieces from the collection also featured slices, including a laser cut vest.

For the collection, Simons mixed work from his previous collections, Greek mythology and 20th century elements. Naming the collection after the Greek myth of Icarus, the tale of the man who flew too close to the sun, Simons says “I wanted to point out a more positive angle, with a future”.
