Miharayasuhiro Deconstructed Velvet Coat
A/W 2003
Started under the name 'ARCHI DOOM' in 1996 and renamed a year later to 'MIHARAYASUHIRO’, Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro first gained recognition for his unconventional footwear before expanding into menswear. His designs often explore contrasts and imperfection, reflecting his belief that “what is unbalanced feels more human.” With an emphasis on individuality and creative expression, his work draws inspiration from cultural narratives and everyday life, creating pieces that blur the line between art and wearability
Constructed of a cotton velvet exterior, this long grey coat has a deconstructed brown cupro lining, detached and frayed at the edges. This separation creates a layered and distressed appearance under the tailored shell of the jacket. The shoulders are padded to create a sharper look and interestingly there is no button on the front, only a buttonhole on each side.
A beautiful piece in excellent condition
